Ayugaerinotaki Falls
A waterfall hidden among the trees, this hidden gem is a perennial Summer favorite.
This elegant waterfall is located just upstream from Kogawa Dam. It's said that in Spring, the flow of this waterfall is too strong and any young sweetfish trying to travel upstream must give up and turn back, giving the falls their name which means "Turning Back Sweetfish Falls." While the falls themselves are relatively small, the atmosphere is such that a visit to Ayugaerinotaki Falls can be a calming experience.
The falls can be quite crowded on weekends and holidays during the warmer months, so be sure to plan your visit accordingly.
