Muneyoshi Tile Exhibition Hall
Shikoku's oldest tile-firing ruins dating back to the Asuka Period.
This exhibition hall is located in Muneyoshi Gayoato Shiato Park. From the mid-7th to early 8th century, roof tiles were made and fired at this site. More than 24 kilns were used- the most in all of Japan at the time!
Inside the exhibition hall, reconstructions of the kilns used at the time and models of the pottery they produced are on display. The artifacts, replicas, and displays exhibited there give insight into the everyday life of the distant past.
The surrounding park is also a popular site in March, when the weeping cherry trees bloom.
