Yamashita Oiri Shop
Traditional sweets to give as gifts on joyful occasions
Oiri are a Japanese confection traditionally given to wedding guests that in recent years is popularly used as a regional souvenir or dessert topping. These cute little bubbles smell faintly like cinnamon and seem to vanish as soon as you put them in your mouth, surprising quite a few first-time eaters. Their reasonable price means anyone can afford to try them.
At Yamashita Oiri Shop, the color of the oiri are slowly changed throughout the year to match the seasons and keep things fresh:
Gentle colors like pink in Spring for the cherry blossoms,
cool blues in Summer for the hydrangeas,
yellows and oranges for the Autumn leaves,
and warm colors in Winter to alleviate the chill.
※Yamashita oriri can currently be purchased throughout Japan at Mitsukoshi Department Store locations.
