Zentsuji Main Temple Shukubo
Escape the everyday and experience shukubo stay at Zentsuji Main Temple
Shukubo is a type of stay at temples and shrines where you can experience religious ceremonies and try Shojin Ryori Buddhist cuisine. Some shukubo even feature an onsen bath. Shukubo is very popular because guests have experiences very different from their daily lives.
Both ordinary guests and ohenro pilgrim guests stay at the Zentsuji Main Temple Shukubo. The Zentsuji Main Temple Shukubo is located on the temple grounds in the Iroha Kaikan building. There is an option for guests to take part in the morning prayer and services that the temple monks do as part of their morning duties. This stay at Zentsuji, the birthplace of Kobo Daishi, offers guests a special experience rich in Japanese history and culture not available at a normal hotel.
Guest rooms are mainly Japanese style rooms, with some Western style rooms available. With 50 Japanese style rooms, the Shukubo can accommodate up to 250 guests. (2 rooms accommodate wheelchairs)
Be sure to take a rest and wash away the tiredness from your travels at the onsite shared bath called "Daishi no Satoyu Onsen".
